    Did you know?

In addition to the visible redness and discomfort of sunburns, there is a cascade of events that begins when your skin experiences UV overexposure. Even a light suntan is a sign that the skin has been injured. Sun exposure triggers an influx of enzymes that degrade collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, hindering the skin's normal support and repair processes. It causes free radical damage, reduces dermal vessels, compromises DNA, and adversely affects the skin's immunity. Over time dehydration, dryness, uneven pigmentation, lines, wrinkles, sagging, and a thick, rough, uneven texture appear.

Staying out of the sun is the safest course of action, followed by daily use of sunscreen with an SPF 30+. The most beneficial choice is a skin care cream that protects against UVA, UVB, and blue lights, such as the Pevonia Hydrating Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40.

But, if you somehow forgot to apply, reapply, or just missed a spot, prompt application of soothing natural skin care products can help take the sting away. Green Tea, Chamomile, and White Water Lily are excellent natural skin care ingredients that cool and minimise redness. Sodium Palmitoyl Proline helps support the production of naturally occurring proteins and strengthen the weakened skin barrier.

Fun Fact: You can use this after waxing or chemical peels. It may also alleviate irritation from aggressive treatments but be sure to speak to your provider first.
