Dry skin is simply skin that lacks lipids and oil production and isn't to be confused with skin that only lacks water. A skin type that someone may be born with, it can also be caused by hormonal changes, ageing, an unhealthy diet, and arid climate. Thinning of the outer layer of the skin due to ageing causes increased water loss and more dryness. But no matter the reason, the quest for natural skin care products to address your skin's moisture content can be daunting.
It is essential to avoid drying ingredients that damage and strip the skin barrier, like sulphates and alcohol. Instead, choose a natural skin cleanser with coconut-derived foaming agents to gently cleanse while supporting skin health. To overcome the tell-tale discomfort, itching, tightness, flaking, and dullness, dry skin needs natural skin care oils like essential fatty acid-rich Safflower Seed Oil and Squalane (from olive oil), and Hyaluronic Acid to increase the skin's moisture content. As dry skin experiences signs of ageing earlier than other skin types, antioxidant Vitamins A and E in the Squalane help neutralise free radical damage and postpone the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
